Confirming the Covenant

He said, “I will certainly be with you, and this will be the sign to you that I am the one who sent you: when you bring the people out of Egypt, you will all worship God at this mountain.” Exodus 3:12

Now if you will carefully listen to me and keep my covenant, you will be my own possession out of all the peoples, although the whole earth is mine, and you will be my kingdom of priests and my holy nation. Exodus 19:5-6

Main Idea: God invites his people to formally confirm the covenant through worship and communion

Three Steps to Confirm the Covenant

To confirm the covenant, God’s people must the terms – Exodus 24:1-4, 7

- Moses the words of God to the people – Exodus 24:3
- Moses writes and the words of God to the people – Exodus 24:4, 7

To confirm the covenant, God’s people must to obey – Exodus 24:3-8

- They willingly the terms – Exodus 24:3
- They worshipfully to the terms – Exodus 24:4-8

To confirm the covenant, God’s people must with God – Exodus 24:9-18

- They God – Exodus 24:9-11
- They a meal together – Exodus 24:11
- They the relationship – Exodus 24:12-18
